pandemic wedding

As most of you know by now, Blake and I basically had two weddings! I'm still in shock that I actually convinced Blake to marry me twice.  Our original wedding date was June 13th. After much consideration of rules and regulations that were put on active duty military because of covid, we decided to have a small ceremony with just our immediate family! We thought about lots of other ideas and even just going to the court house but this idea seemed to be the best! It allowed me to still have most of the "wedding day" moments but not put lots of people and ourselves at risk. Mainly I was convinced that I needed to wear my dress and see Blake's face when I walked down the aisle. It was a moment I had always dreamed of and I didn't think his expression would be as genuine if we were already married. The day turned out to be fabulous and for the most part stress free! We had a quick ceremony and then cooked crawfish and jambalaya. We hung out, played corn hole and even got to cut a cake. I realized that at the end of the day we were married and it was perfect! It didn’t matter if 10 people or 200 people were there. We had each other and that is what mattered the most. While we did not have a professional photographer at the first wedding, we did get a few pictures! I’ve waited to share these because like I said earlier I wore my dress and still wanted that to be a surprise for our second wedding. A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this small ceremony possible! It took a lot more work than what I actually thought. While it wasn't the wedding day I imagined, I'm convinced it was better than anything I could've ever come up with. If there is anything that I have learned from this pandemic, it's to be flexible. Life is too short to be upset. Make the best out of the situation you're given. Laugh a little and just make some fun memories. Besides, what bride gets to say they wore their wedding dress twice! I can’t wait to share more of our second wedding soon!
