here's to remodeling our home.

I am so v v excited to say that we have started on the remodeling of our house! If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen some of my stories on replacing our floor. This stuff definitely involves a lot of hard work and patience but i'm hopeful that it will be worth it in the end!
Our remodel will be a little different than most. Our plan (I say that lightly because our life is constantly being thrown curve balls) is to do a few updates to this house, buy a new house similar to our current house in March/April, move into the new house and then rent our current house out. With that being said, we are not making this house our forever home. We are just doing a few updates in order to make it more appealing to potential renters. Those updates include new floors for the whole house, painting the master bedroom, one guest bedroom and possibly the kitchen, new counter tops, painting the kitchen cabinets a few new appliances and possibly a new vanities in the bathrooms. Ok. When I write it all out it seems like a lot but I promise it isn't! There won't be any walls knocked out or anything too crazy! Most of the work we will be able to do on our own with the help of friends (read save money)!
The craziest part so far has been the prep work. Blake moved into this house in March, we got married in June and then I recently moved all of my stuff in a couple of weeks ago. In other words, our house is full! Since we both had our own places we now have two of everything and then received even more from our wedding showers! We are so thankful to have so much but we are struggling to find places to put it all. A lot of old items are going in the trash and some we are giving away. This leaves places for all of our new stuff that we have recently received! Another challenging aspect is that a room has to be completely empty in order for us to rip the carpet or tile up. We are basically moving everything out of one room and into another room, doing the floors in the first room and then moving all of the stuff from the second room to the first room where the floors are now finished. It's confusing and takes a lot of work. We decided that if we ever replace floors that we will do it BEFORE we move in!
But even with all of the challenges, we are moving right along! Blake is off this week so he has had a lot of extra time to work on the renovations! We were blessed with the fact that the tile in the kitchen was way easier to get out than we expected. Most of the rest of the house is carpet with stick and peel tile underneath so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm posting a few progress pics. We will hopefully be done with the floors this week and then start on painting the cabinets and installing new counter tops next week. I can't wait to see everything finished but the journey to get there is just as fun and full of learning experiences! I hope the rest of your week is great! Happy Tuesday!
